Design and Implementation of Vehiclar CAN Bus and Self-Diagnostic

Abstract

This talk will brief introduce the design and implementation of vehicular CAN bus as well as on-board diagnostic system. It begins with the development history of CAN bus and its applications. Then the CAN bus standard and specification will be discussed. The last part is several actual vehicular CAN bus research issues. After understanding CAN bus, this talk will further present one of the most useful CAN bus applications in vehicle. That is on-board diagnostic system or called OBD system. In this part, the presentation of OBD history will be followed by the description of OBD standard. Next part is the programming skill about development OBD system. Finally, this talk will also demonstrate CAN bus-based OBD signal generator and OBD decoder.
